Booster Club

For awareness, the booster club has provided funding for our uniforms, ball machines, wind screens and some other on-court training tools.  They also offer scholarships for student athletes.

The tennis program has not always been great at supporting The Sherwood Booster Club over the last few years.  We are hoping to remedy that, both as a thank you for past support and to earn their future support.

There are a lot of ways that parents can help the tennis program support the booster club.  Some of these are once-per-year activities, while others are longer-term committments.  Please take a look and see if you can help with these in any way:

Basket Creation for the Booster Club Auction (August - October):

We should be trying to put together a basket (or 2 or 3) with a combined value of about $2000 for people to bid on during the silent auction fundraiser.  Typically, baskets include several items that fit into a theme.  Ideally, at least one major part of a basket comes from a donation from a business or individual.  The team can use some funds to help fill out baskets to create a theme (e.g. a donated new TV could be supplemented with some snacks or DVDs for a Movie Night themed basket).

If you would like to make a donation or talk to some friends/local businesses about donations, let us know.

If you would like to help brainstorm ideas or help shop for items to complete some themes, let us know.

Booster Club Auction: (November)

Once a year - a chance to support the BC in person.  The usually $80 ticket includes dinner, beer and wine, and $10 in chips for the Casino Night theme.  We sometimes have a girls tennis table or two to get families together.  If you have any interest in attending, let us know.

Concession Stand Helpers:

The booster club runs the concession stands are home games throughout the year to help raise money.  Parents can volunteer to help out at some games.  I think teams usually volunteer a few people as a group, so let us know and we'll see if we can get you connected and then you can see if you can come together with a good date for everyone.

Booster Club Liaison for Girls Tennis:

To help keep the booster club going and to help keep each team engaged, it's great if each sport has a parent volunteer to attend the monthly meetings and help spread the word.  This has historically been a 2-year commitment (that isn't confirmed) and usually comes with some expectation for other participation beyond just the meetings (e.g. helping at the auction or other fundraisers).
